Comparison of Water Quality of Waterways in Purwodadi Botanical Garden, Pasuruan, East Java based on Diversity and Abundance of Periphyton

Abstract

Water quality can be observed through its abiotic and biotic factors. Abiotic factors comprise of physical and chemical factors, whereas biotic factors comprise of diversity and density of living organism in the water ecosystem, one of which is periphyton. This study aimed to determine water quality in two waterways at Purwodadi Botanical Garden, Pasuruan East Java based on diversity, density, and INP value of periphyton found in waterways. Samples were carried from waterways near pollution source, and the other one far from pollution source. Samples were analyzed using Inverted Microscope Methode Count. Density of periphyton was further measured.
